We regularly are asked this question by local advertisers especially when INZ is looking for proof of advertising?
INZ conducts a job check as part of the process when employers are looking to hire a migrant worker. The purpose of the job check is to ensure that there are no suitable New Zealanders available to fill a job before hiring migrants and advertising in the Lakes Weekly Jobs or online at JobFix helps with this process.
Once advertising is completed employers must demonstrate that they have made genuine efforts to find suitable New Zealand workers before offering the job to a migrant. The job check is part of the process for employers who wish to employ migrants.
INZ recognises both the Lakes Weekly and JobFix when recruiting for skilled roles such as those listed on the ANZSCO level 4 and 5 levels. https://www.live-work.immigration.govt.nz/choose-new-zealand/regions-cities/otago/jobs-employment
Levels 1-3 require additional advertising but can use both Lakes Weekly and JobFix as a component of the job search. You can find the ANZSCO list here. https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/classifications/anzsco-australian-and-new-zealand-standard-classification-occupations/latest-release
INZ staff, from time to time are not aware of the regional list of media and have been known to advise that LWB and JobFix is not recognised. Should this occur please get in touch and we can help out and get this resolved. Contact us on david@qmg.co.nz or +64 3 409 2300.
