Human Connections Group has partnered exclusively with Queenstown Airport Corporation (“QAC”) for the appointment of an Aeronautical Commercial Manager.

The Job:

The role of Aeronautical Commercial Manager reports into the General Manager Finance & Commercial and works closely with a range of internal stakeholders and departments including Finance and Commercial, Property and Planning, Operations and Technology Asset Management.

The purpose of this role is to manage and grow the aeronautical revenue and general aviation at Queenstown and Wanaka Airports.

You will be responsible for consulting with large commercial airlines to determine appropriate pricing and negotiate pricing renewals. You will proactively manage, nurture, and develop relationships with scheduled airline customers ensuring that aero-pricing principles are followed and result in positive return on investment. A high level of commercial acumen and exposure in working with and negotiating with customers of significant size and scale is critical in this role.

You will also be responsible for general aviation clients which include a range of commercial, agricultural and tourism operators who utilise the airport facilities and infrastructure ensuring appropriate pricing for landing fees relating to both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.

You will be a natural relationship builder who is adept at encouraging collaboration and co-operation with both internal and external customers, at all levels. Although this role has no direct reports you will be the link between various departments internally and various customers externally so your communication skills will be exceptional

With exceptional business planning and strategic capability, you will understand the inputs into the organisation’s revenue line and how those inputs drive successful outcomes. You will utilise appropriate logic and methodology in your pricing calculations and negotiations making commercially viable and sustainable decisions.

There is a strong community focus to this role which will see you working closely with regional tourism agencies such as Destination Queenstown and you will be naturally community minded in your work and passionate about the region.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Manage the regular airline pricing consultation with schedules and general aviation operations
  • Manage the relationships between Queenstown Airport and airline customers
  • Nurture and develop opportunities to create new airline customer relationships
  • Identify opportunity gaps to target and develop sustainable airline capacity growth
  • Oversee reporting for scheduled airline and general aviation monthly performance including revenue reports and passenger movements
  • Deliver annual strategy, budgets and regular forecasting for aeronautical activities


Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • 10+ years’ experience as a general manager or commercial manager within a costing/accounting/finance environment
  • Airport experience is ideal but not essential
  • Exceptional analytical capability and advanced in spreadsheet creation/management
