Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Social Worker to join our highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

The Queenstown Lakes Family Centre is a primary mental health social service agency that provides a range of services for vulnerable children, adolescents and their families/whanau. Services provided include school clinics, family support and counselling, social work support, maternal mental health support and parenting programmes. We're looking for a qualified New Zealand Registered Social Worker (or is eligible to apply for registration) with a strong interest in prevention and early intervention to join our supportive team. This role is varied and includes providing comprehensive social work services within local primary schools, general Social Work strategies for families, children and adolescents. We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following qualifications and skills;

  • A social work degree or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and young people
  • Competency in working clinically with children, adolescents and their families/whanau
  • Competency in working with child protection issues
  • Competency in Risk Assessment and Safety Planning
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Registered with NZSWRB or eligible to apply for registration
  • A full New Zealand driver's license and use of a car for work purposes
  • Knowledge and experience of complex and high needs is essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of the DSM5 including a working understanding of mental health issues for children and young people
  • Excellent knowledge of therapeutic models to support treatment plans for families
  • Ability to facilitate group sessions
  • Preferable experience of working as a Social Worker in schools
  • Group facilitation skills
