Local jobs market takes a breather in May

May’s 403  job’s advertised  was steady compared with April [402] however when compared to May 2022, there is a decline of 40%.

All sectors aside hospitality showed little monthly movement however the Food and Beverage area declined 9 percent while the Accommodation area saw an increase of 22 jobs available this month.

Jobs growth is projected to remain muted through June now we are at the start of the winter season, before rising again from July.

Queenstown’s jobs market trending is in line with the national online numbers reported by the Ministry for Business Innovation and

Employment which show an overall decline in advertised online job advertisements nationally of 24% month to month and a 30% drop in hospitality sector jobs available.
