The QWA was founded in 2012 by a group of like-minded wedding enthusiasts with the aim of promoting Queenstown as a premier destination wedding location. The association does not prioritise any individual business but rather values the collective voice and combined strength of the membership as a whole. We know that this will increase the number of weddings in the Queenstown region each year, and thus bring benefits all QWA members as well as the wider business community.
The QWA promotes the growth of the wedding industry in Queenstown, inspires improved standards of service amongst members, facilitates a friendly community of wedding industry professionals, maintains collaborative links with other wedding industry stakeholders, and works closely with Queenstown tourism stakeholders.
The QWA is steered by the President and a committee of QWA members (who are all volunteers), with support from contractors who manage administration, marketing and social media.
